If a cat touches your touch sensitive faucet, it will, most likely, be too long a contact for the faucet to turn on. A canary landing on the faucet won′t activate it either. Well, how likely is a situation when your kitten would be sitting there and touching the faucet with its paw? Situations of this kind are extremely unlikely to happen. But even if they do once in a while, a good faucet has a built-in system that turns the water off automatically after a certain period of inactivity. It is usually configured somewhere between 3 and 5 minutes. So even if the faucet gets turned on by some unusual circumstance, the loss from that will be rather insignificant.
You may wonder what to do with a touch sensitive faucet when you want to clean it or just push its spout out of the way. What if the faucet keeps turning on and off all the time? A good faucet will distinguish a "touch" from a "grip" or "push". A "touch" from the point of view of the faucet is a short contact. You need to remove your hand in a fraction of a second for the faucet to react. If the hand stays longer, the faucet identifies it as a "grip" and does nothing. Smart touch recognition systems are present in all the touch faucets of acceptable quality. A faucet without the ability to recognize a touch is really not worth having. I′m sure that even if there are any at all, they would never be able to earn high customer points or positive comments. Knowing that, you don′t even have to dive deep into manuals and descriptions. It is enough to search for a particular faucet on your favorite online vendor site to see how others have rated it. Touch faucets without touch recognition cannot be considered quality products. If there are such for sale, they won′t be able to earn positive feedback.
It is quite obvious that the touch feature is powered by electricity. Sometimes people ask whether the faucets need to be connected to the mains. They think it might be dangerous. Others mistrust the very idea of electricity and water being together in a faucet. In fact, the touch sensitive faucets are powered by a set of four or six 1.5 V batteries. The voltage reached by such a pack does not exceed 9 volts, which is considered safe voltage even by the strictest regulations. The electricity, however weak, never comes in contact with water. In a typical touch sensitive faucet, water runs inside pipes made from non-conductive materials. So there is no threat whatsoever that could be attributed to the use of electricity in touch sensitive faucets.
Much is lost from the elegant look when water spots or fingerprints are too explicitly visible on the surface of the faucet. They can be really annoying when you need to keep watch and clean them many times a day. All faucets everywhere in the world will be exposed to this nuisance to a certain extent, and cleaning is the only remedy.
