Somewhere deep inside, many people would have loved a touch sensitive faucet in their kitchen. However, the ability of a faucet to turn on with just a light touch may sound too tricky, unbalanced, unpredictable and uncontrollable. What if there are young children or pets in the kitchen that can activate the faucet by accident? The most widespread reason for rejecting touch sensitive faucets is just the fear that it may not be suitable for families with children or pets.
To disassemble unscrew the setscrew and pull off handle. Though these faucets are washerless, they do have inlet and outlet seals that may leak, or sediment may build up inside the inlets and cause leaks. After removing the escutcheon cap, lift out the cylinder and clean the neoprene seals and cylinder openings. Be sure the faucet is in the "open" position when replacing seals.
But when there are small children, the touch function comes in particularly handy. It is easier for them to get the water they need without asking adults for help. They don′t need to reach the handle and operate it. All they need to do is to tap somewhere on the faucet. It is not likely either that they would leave the water running. It has been found that children often find it fun to tap on the faucet to turn the water off.
